2009.

The utility raised rates three times in two years. We built our first panel in a machine shop off Highway 81.

Dale Kramer had 240 acres of winter wheat north of Salina and a $680 monthly electric bill for his irrigation pivots. His neighbor had a machine shop. Three months later, eight panels were bolted to the south face of a grain bin. That bin still runs. The panels still work. We've been building them the same way since.
